About My Research
My honours project assesses the effects of the Marion Island’s invasive house mice on invertebrate communities using the more pristine Prince Edward Island as a baseline for comparison. In 2025, the Mouse Free Marion initiative plans to launch an eradication program to eliminate the invasive mice, and my project provides an important baseline to monitor the recovery of Marion Island’s invertebrate community post-eradication. As such it contributes to the field of Invasion Biology and specifically to how sub-Antarctic Islands can recover post eradication.
This study is also important in understanding the impacts of climate change on invertebrates, as sub-Antarctic islands are some of the first places seeing the effects of climate change.
